I took the photograph this morning. It kind of looks like a war zone with the stump as the only casualty. The supervisor told me that the work crew is finished and now we are waiting on another contractor to come and remove the stump. This is a pecan tree. You can hardly pull the seedlings from the ground after the root has established. They are deep rooted things - they'll crack off at the middle rather than uproot themselves. I want to see this contractor. I wonder if he owns a big blue ox - possibly named Babe?

Looks like they took more than one tree down. Now you can hang little skull and cross bones banners all over the yellow tape. Or post a sign "No Trespassing Road Closed." Does Jerry have any violations in his yard? A quick phone call can make him wish he kept his mouth shut and minded his own business.
Paul Bunyan took out your tree? Maybe?
I was just imagining all of the seedlings waiting to sprout up into the newly opened-up canopy. Little pecans - just lying under the dark and dreaming about the mighty trees they can become. Good luck to 'em.
Oh, did the crew (or Mr. Bunyan) cut it into firewood lengths for you? It being a pecan, and all.
Forgot to ask. Did it frighten the horses?
It being a pecan and on their easement, the crew cut the tree into lengths they could handle and then one of the guys went chop chop chop and got some wood that he could create something out of. I dunno what his plans were but we didn't get anything left over but wood chips in the road. Lotsa wood chips.
The horses were curious but calm. They are still in the little field until the road is done. There's still tape all over. I should go out and change it to Crime Scene tape, huh!
Truly was a crime, I agree.
